The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has successfully captured a notorious kidnapping suspect who had been evading authorities for several months. The individual, identified as Okon Asuquo Udo from Ube village in the Okobo Local Government Area, is allegedly linked to a series of high-profile abductions. These include the kidnapping of a Paramount Ruler in October 2024 and the wife of an Executive Chairman in November 2024.

The arrest took place on August 13, 2025, following a confidential intelligence report. According to a statement released by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Timfon John, Udo is also suspected of being involved in other kidnapping incidents across the Oron, Mbo, and Okobo Local Government Areas. The police are continuing their investigation to locate and apprehend other members of the suspect's criminal network and to recover the firearms used in their operations.
